A beautiful sunny and cool Monday morning following a rainy weekend. A couple of weeks ago we had a surprise storm blow in. The trees were whipping around and I heard a crash on the deck. Wondering what the heck????? I went to investigate and wow my patio table umbrella had been lifted and crashed back down shattering the glass on my table. What a mess. Instead of searching for a new table I headed to Marketplace and found the perfect round table with a lazy susan. Funny thing, this lady went to high school with someone I know and also quilts and is also a high school home economics teacher in Springfield. It truly is a small world. I love my new table. This time the umbrella is securely situated in the umbrella holder. I have a visitor in the second photo. That’s my sister’s cat “Buddy”. He likes to visit and have sleep overs.
Yesterday I started thinking about my goals for this week and what I thought I could realistically get accomplished. I usually over extend myself. I realized I needed to get ready for the week ahead by finishing up an applique project and clean and organize my sewing room. I did finish appliqueing the final pieces of the Halloween project and chose my backing fabric which luckily I had in my stash. I mean what is a stash for if not to pull from? The goal for this project is to get it basted and ready for the quilter. Oh, ha ha that’s me.
I have been falling behind on my actual quilts to quilt. I am trying to balance projects to be completed with quilts to be quilted. I just finished quilting a baby quilt for a friend that turned out really cute. Unfortunately I did not take a photo of it. It was a Tractor Mac panel that she added creative borders.
Next up for quilting is my sister’s second quilt. It is a bee quilt. I have been looking at it now for a few days getting ideas of how best to showcase the quilt. The center medallion gave me a bit of a pause. The bees I know how they want to be quilted. I have come up with a plan for the center and that is my goal for today.
I recently made a cute Tula Pink fabric sample for our local quilt shop. I just love Tula fabrics.
My next shop sample is a Christmas project. Yesterday I cleaned my sewing room by putting away fabrics I had pulled for previous projects, made the templates required for Comfort and Joy lettering to be ready to start cutting fabrics today. That is planned for this afternoon when I take a break from machine quilting.
With any luck I have finally settled on the fabrics for my Bird by Bird quilt. I do have a few pieces not on the sheet that will most likely be added here and there for balance and emphasis. Once I get caught up on quilt tops to be quilted finished I will return to Bird by Bird. At the moment the plan is for it to be my take with project. I will be assisting a couple of friends with their medical treatments and recouperation from surgery and it will be the perfect project to take along and make all those kagillion circles.
Now that I have my game plan in place I look forward to a wonderful week.
May God Bless you all with his Grace and Mercy.
Stay in those stitches.
