Sometimes Best Laid Plans Get Revised

I have not started working on my September UFO.  Made a baby quilt, got my 80’s Sampler back from being quilted by Vickie.   Finished binding both.  Vickie’s quilting is absolutely breathtaking.  The quilting turned my 80’s “What Was I Thinking”  into a lovely quilt.  Ideas for the center medallion was inspired by a Kim Mclean pattern of princess feather.  I asked Vickie to take feather quilting design and turn it into a pinwheel effect.  She executed that idea perfectly.  The batting for the quilt is a Hobbs that I had purchased 20 years ago to use in a hand quilting project.  I usually prefer warm and natural, but since I had it on hand I decided to use it.  I can’t say that I would use it again.  The quilting didn’t immediately show up as with warm and natural, so I washed the quilt.  It needed washing from being stored for many years anyway.  I had not pre-washed the batting so the end result is there is some shrinking of the quilt from the batting.  The effect is seen below.  In this instance I believe it complimented the quilting. Just have to put label on it.

The baby quilt turned out nice as well and will be delivered today.

I am happy to report that my fig tree is thriving.

Although I did have a casualty this week.  My table umbrella was tossed off my deck during a storm in the middle of the night and dropped some 10 feet.  It is now in a permanent open position.  I guess I will try and take it apart to see if I can repair it.  It is 11 feet in diameter and I have no place large enough to store it over the winter fully opened. Major Bummer  😦

Because once I perform my surgery on it it may never properly work again.

Now that the baby quilt is finished and the binding on the 80’s is completed.  I can now get started on my September UFO.   My feet are dragging.  Hopefully once I get started I will be fully engaged and excited to get it completed.  Right now, my mind is still on Autumn Joy which still isn’t completed.  I might just flip flop them..

I will leave you with a beautiful view that I am blessed to have.

Happy Quilting.
