Princess Quilt Top Finished

005

My first quilt top completed for 2016.  The Princess McKenna quilt top is finished and ready to head to Vicky’s house to be quilted.  This top took me two months to hand applique.  I enjoyed making this quilt.  I got a  whimsical feeling  while making this quilt and felt it would be just perfect for a little princess in training.  McKenna will be one year old on August 1st.  My self imposed time frame is that they get their quilt from Aunt Sissy by the time they are one.  So far I have kept pace.

Next on the list is my attempt at machine quilting the baby owl quilt.  Courage Sissy, you can do this!! After all that is why I bought my dream Bernina with the awesome BSR.  (stitch regulator).  I am planning on putting up my stretcher frames on the deck this afternoon and layer the baby owl quilt together properly so that it will be nice and taunt when layered together hoping  I don’t get any pleats or tucks when quilting the layers together.  I may watch a couple more you tube videos before I begin just to bolster my courage.  I just wish I wasn’t such a perfectionist.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Awesome Vacation Day

Had a vacation day yesterday.  Spent most of day in Springfield where I took a T-shirt class at Merrily We Quilt Along quilt shop.  Enjoyed myself  immensely and learned something new as well.  Lunch at Chick Fil A, a special treat.  A little shopping at TJ MAX and then home ahead of forecast yucky weather.

Almost finished with horse and carriage block of Princess quilt.  I have two horses left to applique.  Progress is being made.

Awoke to snow on the ground and horrendous winds.  Brrrrrrrrr.  The good news is spring weather by weekend and snow should be gone sometime today.

Thanks Merrily for a great class.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Playing Catch Up

Still working on Princess quilt.  Almost at finish line.  On my to do list I had listed to prep princess blocks.  I decided to go ahead and hand applique the blocks so I could go ahead and put this quilt in the finished category.  It has taken up all my spare time as there seems to be more to it than I had anticipated.  That’s okay.  I’m enjoying the process.  However, I am behind on all my other items.

Yesterday  I finished hand appliqueing the Princess block on the Princess quilt.  Today I worked on cutting all the blocks to size and sewing them together, finishing up the embroidery on the blocks and hand appliqueing the dragon’s leash.  When that was completed I soaked the blocks in warm water and soap to get all the starch and glue off of them.  They are now hanging on the design wall drying.  While that is going on I am now prepping the final applique block the coach and horses so I can get that appliqued.

This is what I have finished so far.

The pieced blocks pinned by Princess McKenna’s name are from the Saturday Sampler Group I belong. It is going to be fabulous when finished.

Back to stitching.  Have a great day!
