Time to Sew

I have had a very fulfilling Spring this year.  Unfortunately it did not include very much quality time spent with my sewing machine.  Plenty of yard work, spring clean up, planting planters and containers, and whisky barrels.  I also added a new hosta and a new peony to my shade garden.  My sister and I had some clearing done on the property as the woods were trying to reclaim our space.  Now it has a park look to it.  Just means that much more mowing but it will be awesome once the grass starts sprouting.

My sister, brother and nephew arrived for the spring turkey hunting season.  Totally enjoyed spending time with them.  My nephew is the recipient of the Princess McKenna quilt as he is the proud papa. I had thought to enter the Princess quilt in the fair this year but decided to go ahead and give it to my nephew.  I have other quilts that can be entered.  While here I gave my family a mini quilt show of all the quilts I had finished this past year.  My nephew admired the Quackers quilt  and asked if he could have it.  How can you say no when they like what you do.  So I gave it to him.

I actually planted a garden this year and am trying my hand at hay bale gardening.  We’ll see how it does. I had read an article about it somewhere so I bought a book on it and thought it worth trying.

Last month I was working on the T-shirt quilt for a friend’s daughter who is graduating this month.  I finished the top and delivered that.  I am currently working on a special project that I hopefully will be able to finish this week.  It’s a friendship type quilt.  I have gotten caught up on the Storytellers BOM and ready to start Month 11.  Almost to the finish line on that one and have been keeping up with the Saturday Sampler group as well.  I am hoping when I finish the special project I will get a belated start on my UFO list for 2016.  That will leave me 1/2 the year to complete what I had budgeted for the whole year.  I will give it my best shot.  It is what it is and I’ll get accomplished what I can.  I love sewing and spending time in my sewing room but the weather here in the Ozarks this year has been so wonderful that I seem to want to spend more time outside than in.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Happy Stitches
