Hello and I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving shared with family, friends, good food (way too much good food), football and shopping and for those of you who like to be in the woods hunting. Those seem to be the favorites. I can say I manage to tick a few of those and had a happy Thanksgiving.
I have been working diligently on a friend of mine’s quilt. Her grandson graduated from high school and went into basic training but will be home for Christmas. She painted and embroidered some blocks reflecting various farm scenes as he grew up on a farm. I put them together for her into a quilt top and quilted it on my Bernina Q16. At first I was intimidated by the size but quickly realized I would be able to manage it on the surface table of the Q16. Then of course there is my limited capability of free motion quilting designs. I watched several videos and practiced on my little practice squares until I was comfortable enough to add them to the quilt. I found working in segments worked well for me. My comfort and confidence level soared working on this quilt. I found I really enjoyed myself quilting the last 2 borders. I am now hand sewing the binding on and will hopefully deliver it to her this Thursday. I hope she likes it. Once I have the binding on I will post a full photo, but here is the WIP
My next adventure in machine quilting will be to finish my online quilt challenge classes with Angela Walters. Those classes have been a blessing to me. I have learned so much. My next area of interest in machine quilting is a video tutorial/class I have of Judi Madsen, Quilting Makes a Difference. It is all linear and background fillers. Hoping to get started on those after the first of the year.
I am still working on my stars upon stars quilt. I have received my new BOM installment and am excited to get started on that after I tidy up some items on my list.
I have begun decorating for Christmas. The tree is up and trimmed now working on organizing and replacing storage for the ornaments and decorations. My living room is a mess right now. But the tree is lovely. My sister commented that she thought I had too many decorations on the tree. Is there such a thing? Not in my estimation. I try to add a Christopher Radko ornament each year and a figurine of Jim Shore. I am particularly fond of the snowmen. I have my eye on this snowman with the woodland creatures.
I did add this Jim Shore ornament to my collections this year. I thought it was beautiful.
Today, working on binding, tidy up living room and begin wrapping gifts. I just love the holiday season. Hoping yours gets off to a great start.
