Is it Really September 24th?

Where has the year gone?  We are almost 3/4ths thru the year and I am miserably behind on my UFO list.  The good news is I keep plugging away and eventually something gets removed from the list.  Just not as quickly as I had hoped this year but progress non the less.

I have been concentrating on A Boy and A Girl by Kim McLean.  I am still hand appliqueing the blocks.  Lots of thread changing.  Beautifully printed fabrics require me to change the thread in my needle often as seen below.  But the end result is very satisfying.

Not sure how much I’ll get done today I still have yard work to finish but I’m hoping to wrap up Block # 2 by the end of the month so I can start # 3 for October.  I really like working on this quilt.

I did get my Saturday Sampler Block finished and am good to go for our meeting October 1st.   The UFO Basket quilt has been relegated to the back burner as I am frustrated with it. I have gotten 6 blocks completed so I am not going to beat myself up over shoving it aside.  The blocks are still hanging on the design wall a constant reminder of “Hey, I’m still here, patiently waiting to be completed”.  I’ll get there just not today.

Happy stitches everyone!

About Sissy Malone

I've been actively sewing since Jr. High School. But specifically drawn to quilting since I was 17/18 years old. My grandmother was a quilter and I became fascinated with the process. I fell in love (awestruck) is a better word viewing applique quilts by Gladys Rashka at the Minnesota State Fair in the 70's. A love affair was born of applique quilts. I still machine piece, but am always drawn to applique. I took classes learning different techniques and also traveled to California and studied a whole week at Asilomar with Elly Sienkiewicz. Quilting is my passion. I am always open to learning a new technique but still rely on handwork. View all posts by Sissy Malone
