My sister has a friend who keeps bees. Needless to say she is bee crazy. Whenever, we are out shopping and happen to come across anything bee related we have to get it for future gift giving.
I belong to a group on Facebook, Quilt A Long with Pat Sloan. Pat took up the challenge from Kimberly Jolly of the fat quarter shop to design something to go with their Zipper Pouch pattern using moda’s mini charm pack. She designed a darling pouch using a bee applique. Well, that certainly falls in the realm of gifts to give for my sister’s friend. so guess who got recruited to make the pouch. Yep, me.
To be honest I did practice on two others before tackling the bee pouch. The other two were gifted to friends at work. My sister gets these two to give to her friend. You have to really love your sister to put aside your current project and shop for supplies and make the bee pouch. Luckily I do! So the photos below are the result of the bee mania surrounding my sister.
The first bag I made I placed the bee on the back side framed in black, no buttons.
The second bag, I placed the bee on the front side but added the buttons as Pat Sloan had on her bag.
Did you notice my helper in the background? I have to admit I am not totally up to speed with my Bernina and I had to fall back into my comfort zone and use my Pfaff to sew on the buttons. I know how to do that on the Pfaff with ease.
Now, back to my current project, A Boy and A Girl Block 2.
Have a blessed day and happy stitches.
