Princess Quilt Top Finished

005

My first quilt top completed for 2016.  The Princess McKenna quilt top is finished and ready to head to Vicky’s house to be quilted.  This top took me two months to hand applique.  I enjoyed making this quilt.  I got a  whimsical feeling  while making this quilt and felt it would be just perfect for a little princess in training.  McKenna will be one year old on August 1st.  My self imposed time frame is that they get their quilt from Aunt Sissy by the time they are one.  So far I have kept pace.

Next on the list is my attempt at machine quilting the baby owl quilt.  Courage Sissy, you can do this!! After all that is why I bought my dream Bernina with the awesome BSR.  (stitch regulator).  I am planning on putting up my stretcher frames on the deck this afternoon and layer the baby owl quilt together properly so that it will be nice and taunt when layered together hoping  I don’t get any pleats or tucks when quilting the layers together.  I may watch a couple more you tube videos before I begin just to bolster my courage.  I just wish I wasn’t such a perfectionist.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

About Sissy Malone

I've been actively sewing since Jr. High School. But specifically drawn to quilting since I was 17/18 years old. My grandmother was a quilter and I became fascinated with the process. I fell in love (awestruck) is a better word viewing applique quilts by Gladys Rashka at the Minnesota State Fair in the 70's. A love affair was born of applique quilts. I still machine piece, but am always drawn to applique. I took classes learning different techniques and also traveled to California and studied a whole week at Asilomar with Elly Sienkiewicz. Quilting is my passion. I am always open to learning a new technique but still rely on handwork. View all posts by Sissy Malone
